Alpha Baking Co., Inc.

During its thirty years, Alpha has grown constantly to become today's team of over 1,400 associates dedicated to proving that no customer is too big or too small to be 100% satisfied.

With two plants in Chicago, one in LaPorte, Indiana and another plant in Manitowoc, Wisconsin, Alpha Baking produces a comprehensive line of rye, sourdough, Italian, French and pan breads, along with submarine rolls, hoagie rolls, dinner rolls, kaisers, hamburger, hot dog buns, bagels, organic and all natural products under the S.Rosen, MaryAnn, Kreamo, Castle, National, Cable Car, Natural Ovens and Golden Hearth brand names. We have frozen distribution throughout the United States, and fresh distribution through much of the Midwest.

Alpha Baking Company
was formed in 1979 by the merger of Kreamo Bakers in South Bend, Indiana and MaryAnn Baking company of Chicago. In 1980, total sales of the combined bakeries were less than $15 million. Alpha continued to grow by purchasing S.Rosen's Baking Company in 1981 and National Baking Company in 1997.

In 1988, Alpha built a state-of-the-art plant in LaPorte, Indiana. This 135,000 square foot facility was designed to produce 60,000 hamburger buns per hour along with a variety of pan and hearth style breads. With the 1996 addition of an imported European production line, the plant also has the ability to produce and blast freeze many varieties of partially baked hard-crusted breads and rolls.

Today Alpha operates 16 production lines with annual revenues of $210 million which has positioned the bakery as the largest in the Chicago area and one of the ten largest privately held baking companies in the United States.
